Большие каменные изваяния человеческих голов, обнаруженные в Мексике в XIX в. Сделаны из крупных базальтовых валунов и по-видимому не являются фрагментом цельной скульптуры. Некоторые скульптуры явно неоконченные. Всего известно о 17 экземплярах и одном каменном троне, предположительно вырезанном из подобной головы. Скульптуры имеют массу от 6 до 50 тонн.
Скульптуры приписывают ольмекской цивилизации и датируют 1500-400г.г до н.э. Датировка неоднозначна, к тому же местоположение голов вероятно неоднократно менялось в прошлом.
По официальной версии головы изображают ольмекских правителей или заслуженных лиц. Однако в изображении лиц угадываются негроидные черты.

- Всего известно о семнадцати подобных артефактах на территории недалеко от Мексиканского залива (Мексика).
- Предположительно, ещё одна голова, переделанная под трон, находится в Гватемале.
- Вес памятников разнится. Так самая маленькая голова весит около 6 тонн, тогда как самые большие - 40-50 тонн. Процесс создания артефактов до сих пор не изучен. Неясным остаётся как способ транспортировки базальтовых валунов на значительные расстояние из каменоломен в горных районах Сьерра-де-лос-Тукстлас, так и возраст находок. Предположительно, считается, что самые древние артефакты относятся к периоду 1500-1000 года до нашей эры. Однако датировка условная.
- Цивилизация ольмеков считается одной из первых развитых цивилизаций региона, оказавшей серьёзное влияние на более поздние индейские культуры. Однако её истоки и причины упадка до сих пор являются предметом жарких дискуссий.

- Обнаружена в 1970 году результате археологических работ совместной миссии мексиканского Университета штата Веракрус и Университета штата Канзас (США) на территории ранчо Ла Кобата.
- Артефакт, как и другие 16 известных каменных голов, относят к творению цивилизации ольмеков. Голова сделана из базальта. Высота монумента номер 1 - 3,45 м, что делает его самой большой из найденных ольмекских голов. Кроме того, это единственная голова с закрытыми глазами.
- Монумент номер 1 сейчас находится на территории парка Бенито Хуареса в центре города Сантьяго-Тустла (Мексика).
